Turkish Customs

On photobucket you can see a picture of all our shoes at the Faculty Fellowship. When you come into a Turkish home you are expected to take off your shoes. We keep house slippers at our door for guests. It's become a habit I have developed very quickly. The tradition comes from when people used to eat on the floor and you didn't want to track things in with your shoes. Makes perfect sense!

I also included a picture of what you see when you first walk into our school. It's a log that has all of our names (this year and last year's teachers). It was a gift from Serdar. Serdarbay (you add bay to say Mr. it's the proper way to address people) does so much at our school. He is a Turkish believer and just a super great guy. He helps with many of the Turkish things that we need help with! But this was a gift from him, most Turkish schools have one. He went and picked out the log himself.
