Çanakkale Field Trip - Part I

32 high school students from 9th grade through 12th grade on a eight hour bus ride one way - priceless! This year I took the students a little further afield to Çanakkale. We left Ankara and headed west to the Gallipoli Peninsula. On the first day we visited Galliopli, a World War I battle site and on the second day we visited the ancient city of Troy. In later posts, I will write about each of this different places.

There was very little sleeping on the way there. We left school at 3 am on Sunday morning. We arrived at the ferry to cross the Dardanelles to the Gallipoli Peninsula at noon. The kids really seemed to enjoy the trip. I think it all went well. I had been to both of the places before, but only about three students had every been. They were particularly impressed with Troy.

We spent the night at a very nice hotel on Sunday night. Some of the students even went swimming, though it was very cold. I watched from the beach chair. Here are some fun pictures of the kids from the ferry ride. And here are the links to my pictures on facebook. The next post will have my photobucket link. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=39069&l=468af&id=620259852
