Hey! We went to Polatli on Saturday since we had the long weekend because of Seker Bayram. It is about an hour west of Ankara. It was home to the Phyrgian kingdom, with Gordion as its capital. The famous King Midas (the guy with the golden touch) was one of their rulers, and he along with lots of other kings and important guys are buried in mounds surrounding the area. Here is also where Alexander the Great united the famous Gordion knot. The legend of the knot was whoever could untie it would rule Asia. So Alexander cut it in half with his sword!
We were invited my some Turkish ladies that I meet about a month ago. They are friends of one of the workers here. They speak almost no English, but are very nice. They made us lunch and gave us the tour. Their brother was very helpful in explaining a lot of things. The ladies weave cloth. We went to their shop and saw the looms they use. They make very nice cloths.
We also went to a war memorial for the Turks freedom from the Ottomans. As well as Midas' tomb and museum. It was a very nice time.
